Don Gardner

Served North End – 1960-1963

Don was born in 1927 in Marmaduke, Arkansas. He preached his first sermon
there at age 14. He graduated from christian colleges and received his doctorate
degree from UCLA. He preached seven years in Abilene, Texas before going to
South Africa as a missionary. While there at least two churches were estab
lished. From 1954-1959 he preached in Tennessee and Pittsburgh, Pennsylva
nia. During this time he was a continuous writer in many of the leading church
publications. In 1960 he became the first president of Ohio Valley College. For
the next three years he and Leon Matheny were associate preachers at North
End. He later served as president of Michigan Christian College, York College
(Nebraska), and Columbia Christian (Oregon). At his death in 1996 he was
working for Oklahoma Christian College and was head of the National Christian
School Association. His brother Claude was also a well-known preacher.
