Served North End – 1960-1963
Leon was born in 1929 in Ohio. A brother, Carl, was also a preacher. He was
baptized by Fred Dennis. Leon attended Freed-Hardeman College. In the sum
mers he sold Bibles in the coal camps in southern West Virginia, and preached
in peoples’ home on Sundays. He was a located preacher in the 1950’s, includ
ing Harmar Hill in Marietta. From 1960-1963 he worked at both North End and
the Sunrise congregation. At North End he was deeply involved with personal
work, teaching, and preached when the other minister, Don Gardner, was away
fulfilling his duties as Ohio Valley College president. At the same time he also
worked for OVC. After working at North End he preached for four years in South
Charleston. He passed away in 2016 in Tennessee.
