Leon Matheny"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Served North End &#8211; 1960-1963<\/p>\n<p>Leon was born in 1929 in Ohio. A brother, Carl, was also a preacher.  He was<br \/>\nbaptized by Fred Dennis. Leon attended Freed-Hardeman College. In the sum<br \/>\nmers he sold Bibles in the coal camps in southern West Virginia, and preached<br \/>\nin peoples\u2019 home on Sundays.  He was a located preacher in the 1950\u2019s, includ<br \/>\ning Harmar Hill in Marietta. From 1960-1963 he worked at both North End and<br \/>\nthe Sunrise congregation. At North End he was deeply involved with personal<br \/>\nwork, teaching, and preached when the other minister, Don Gardner, was away<br \/>\nfulfilling his duties as Ohio Valley College president. At the same time he also<br \/>\nworked for OVC.  After working at North End he preached for four years in South<br \/>\nCharleston.
