Served North End – 1977-1995<\/p>\n
Wirt Cook was born in Mingo county, West Virginia in 1936. He married Faye
\nDonley in 1954. Faye passed away in 2012. Four of their five children are mem
\nbers at North End. Wirt served eleven years in the Navy. After serving in the Na
\nvy he went to Sunset School of preaching and later received his bachelor de
\ngree from Alabama Christian School of Religion. Before coming to North End,
\nWirt preached in New Jersey, Pennsylvania , and Athens, Ohio. One of the min
\nistry\u2019s begun during his time at North End were jail services. He also, with the
\nhelp of our members, revived the Ohio Valley Lectureship. The evening services
\naveraged 397. Wirt was one of the co-founders of the West Virginia School of
\npreaching in Moundsville, West Virginia. He left North End in 1995 after 18 years
\nof service; being our longest serving minister. After North End he preached in
\nJohnstown, Pennsylvania and Orrville, Ohio. He returned to Parkersburg to be
\ncloser to his family and he worked with the Rosemar congregation from 2002
\n2014. After preaching for over 50 years he spent his retirement years back here
\nwith North End. Wirt passed away in December of 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
